Sunday, May 6th, 2012For my daughter’s thirteenth birthday, we had a Hawaiian-themed party, which had a very exciting and fun preparation because we just then brought Hawaii to our own backyard since we cannot go to Hawaii to enjoy the great tropics. Since we have our own pool, all we had to do was place some sand around it to make it look like the ocean; so that it will have the feel of Hawaii, we had some petals floating and floral design all over the place. Since we are having the party at night, we had some neon lights signs to add some color and lighting to the place and we also decorated the place with some sculptures, statues and an archway to really transform our backyard to an island. To complete the island-inspired setting for her birthday, we rented some tiki bars and huts because it gave a very calming ambiance to the setting and it was very worth it since it became a very nice attraction during the party. I really loved how the tiki bar made our poolside beautiful, so I have decided to buy one that will be placed there forever and it was very easy to find a manufacturer online that makes custom-built tiki bar. Nowadays, people go through life with the goal of attaining financial wealth and power that will somehow grant us earthly pleasures. Many have forgotten to search for the true meaning of our existence; we have failed to search for the holiness in us that will give meaning to our lives. Because its rewards are immediate, and we feel momentarily satisfied, we race through life seeking material things. We disregard that calling and the need to nurture our spiritual selves because we feel it’s too much effort. One must try very hard to ignore the never-ending pull of the various human dysfunctions and surrender oneself to the pull of God to achieve holiness. The bible says that “holiness is the state of being holy or sacred, being clean or pure, and to be holy like God.” In all of us, faith is something inherent and we feel it when we constantly seek meaning in our lives.
